Lahaina Property Taxes

Mayor Bissen shared today that he has authorized waiving real property tax fees for those in Lahaina, including structures. For those who already paid their real property taxes for the year, those will be refunded to help families recover. 

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center has been established at the University of Hawaii - Maui College and will be open from 8am-7pm 7 days a week. Those applying for assistance can speak to FEMA specialists, get assistance registering for disaster assistance, get in touch with voluntary organizations, and have access to other federal and state resources.

Real Estate Moratorium

Governor Green shared that the state Attorney General is working on a moratorium to prevent predatory land sales from outside of the state and will provide more information on Friday. 

Kula Fire Update

Fire Chief Ventura shared that they are thankful for volunteers. The perimeter has not expanded, but they are still watching it. If anyone sees any flare-ups, please call the Kula station or 911.

EPA Hazardous Waste Removal

The EPA will begin their hazardous waste and debris cleanup. This is the first set to recovery. They are beginning Upcountry with recon teams.
