Maui Fire Disaster Update 8/10

Aloha Chamber Members,

Mahalo to everyone that has reached out and offered support!

We wanted to share some updates and important information. We are going to start posting updates in the articles section of our website (and you will get notified when a new article goes up) so you can refer back to information as needed.

8/10 Press Conference

First, Governor Green, Mayor Bissen, Senator Schatz, Senator DeCoite, and more gathered today and held a press conference on the fires across Maui and the devastation in Lahaina.

Disaster Assistance

If you, your home, and/or your business were impacted, please FIRST reach out to FEMA. Earlier we sent out information on the SBA disaster loans, but have learned that it is better to apply for FEMA assistance first as it is a grant. They may then refer you to the SBA loans.

To register for FEMA Assistance, you may call 1-800-320-6630 OR

Visit disasterassistance.gov, enter Maui in the search box, then it will redirect you to a page showing Maui County as a declared county. It may take a few seconds for this page to load. There will be a button under that says "Apply Now".

Road Closures

As they mentioned in the press conference, the roads to Lahaina are still closed for those trying to enter the Lahaina and West Maui area. We and many others are working to help coordinate getting needed supplies through. For safety reasons and recovery, they are not allowing people into Lahaina. For more information on road closures, please view the County website.

Finding Loved Ones

If you are searching for loved ones who may have been in Lahaina at the time of the fires:

The Family Assistance Center is at 275 Uhu Street and is open from 10am-8pm today and Friday (next week's hours have not yet been set). The Maui Emergency Management Agency will pass out forms to help in the process of locating unaccounted-for family members.

You can also call the American Red Cross hotline at 1-800-733-2767 .

Sharing Your Stories

We know everyone is jumping in to try and help in this disaster. We want to show how our Chamber Members are getting involved. Please email us and let us know what you are doing to help, share pictures, etc. If you haven't found a way to get involved yet, please let us know! If you have already reached out to us to offer your support, please know we have your information logged and will reach back out when the time is right.
