Upcountry Maui is commonly thought of as paniolo (cowboy) country and it supports it’s reputation with Mexican food, steaks and other down-home dining options.

The fact that the area also hosts a number of high teas and experimental luncheons is less well known. And, by the same, the fine-dining restaurants in Upcountry are practically unknown to casual visitors.

Nonetheless, from Kula to Hali‘imaile, Maui’s upper slopes are scattered with culinary adventures to satisfy both the most hurried passer-by and the most discriminating taste.
