Central Maui, at first glance, doesn’t look like a haven for diners, but look more closely. Here, in the area known to visitors as the Kahului airport district, are some very good places to eat, from the cafés, bistros and noodle shops of Wailuku to great natural food outlets and international cuisine restaurants in Kahului.

What’s more, many excellent chefs and famous restaurants have counters in the shopping mall food courts here. That’s hard to believe, but it’s absolutely true. A little adventuring here can really pay off.
